For CBSE Class 11 and 12 students

JEE Advanced maths for CBSE students

JEE Advanced is the second stage, for the candidates who do well enough in JEE Main. It uses the same Class 11 and 12 chapters, but its questions are longer, combine more ideas and change format from year to year.

At a glance

  • Only the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the JEE Main B.E./B.Tech. paper can register for JEE Advanced (2026 information brochure).
  • There are two compulsory papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each 3 hours long and each with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The question types and marking (single correct, more than one correct, numerical, matching lists and so on) are set by the organising IIT and change from year to year, with partial marks and negative marks in some sections. to confirm
  • The 2026 maths syllabus has nine areas: sets, relations and functions; algebra; matrices; probability and statistics; trigonometry; analytical geometry; differential calculus; integral calculus; vectors. It includes Rolle's theorem and Lagrange's mean value theorem.
  • The official archive has the past papers from 2007 to 2025, and the 2026 answer keys are linked from the home page.

Because the format changes every year, the best preparation is deep, untimed problem solving on each chapter, then the official past papers.

Which CBSE chapters it uses

25 of the 27 chapters in CBSE Class 11 and 12 Mathematics are in recent JEE Advanced syllabuses. The full table, with the other exams side by side, is on the chapter map.

How it differs from JEE Main

  • Depth over speed. Fewer questions with more steps each; a single idea is rarely enough.
  • More than one correct option in some sections, so you must check every option, not stop at the first right one.
  • Theorems NCERT treats lightly, such as Rolle's theorem and the mean value theorem, are in the syllabus.
  • Format changes. Read the instructions of each section on the day; do not rely on last year's pattern.

How to use this section

We have not written JEE Advanced-style papers: the format changes too much each year to copy fairly, and the official past papers are free on the JEE (Advanced) site. Use our JEE Main-style sets to secure each chapter first. The numerical-value questions there, where no options help you, are the closest practice for Advanced. Then work through the official papers chapter by chapter.

Questions students ask

Who can take JEE Advanced?

For 2026, the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the JEE Main B.E./B.Tech. paper. The JEE (Advanced) information brochure sets the number and the other conditions each year.

Is the JEE Advanced syllabus the same as JEE Main?

Mostly the same chapters, but they are not identical: JEE Advanced publishes its own syllabus (for example it includes Rolle's theorem and the mean value theorem). Check the current syllabus PDF on the official site.

Do you have JEE Advanced mock papers?

No. The question types and marking change every year, so we point you to the official past papers and answer keys instead, and give you chapter practice that builds the depth they need.
