The paper in brief
- 80 marks, 3 hours, 38 questions in Sections A to E: twenty 1-mark questions (MCQs and assertion–reason), then 2-, 3- and 5-mark answers and three 4-mark case studies.
- What the marks test. Mathematics (041) question paper design, Class 12, 2026-27: remembering and understanding 44 marks (55%), applying 20 marks (25%), analysing, evaluating and creating 16 marks (20%), out of 80; no chapter-wise weightage; internal choice in about a third of the questions in every section. (CBSE Class 12 Mathematics curriculum 2026-27)
- Real-life questions. CBSE says Class 12 board papers will have more questions based on real-life situations that ask students to apply, analyse, evaluate and synthesise, with the core competencies taken from the prescribed syllabus. It gives no percentage for Class 12. (Senior School Curriculum 2026-27)
- No calculator. Answers are exact: surds, fractions and \(\pi\) stay as they are unless the question gives a value to use.
Then put it into practice
