The CBSE Class 12 supplementary exam: a maths guide
What CBSE has published, where to check the rest, and how to use the weeks before it. Dates come only from cbse.gov.in.
What it is
The supplementary exam is CBSE's second chance in the same year for Class 12 students, held after the main board exams. Who can sit it, and in which category, is set out in CBSE's circulars for the year: check them on CBSE's examination circulars page and with your school.
Schools apply for their own students and private candidates apply themselves: for 2026, schools submitted the List of Candidates (LOC) online for their regular students, and private candidates applied online, in circulars of 30 June 2026 (with later extensions). (CBSE circulars). Ask your school for its deadline.

A maths plan for the supplementary exam
- Get the facts first. Your result, whether you can sit the exam and in which category (ask your school), and the school's deadline for the List of Candidates.
- Find the lost marks. Sit a full CBSE paper again (the main-exam paper from CBSE's question papers once published, or the 2026-27 sample paper), timed and without a calculator. List every lost mark by chapter and section.
- Calculus first. It carries 35 of the 80 marks: the Calculus chapters on the Route to 95, steps 1 to 3, until each checkpoint is passed.
- Then the rest, quickly. Every other chapter rated red, amber or green; extra time on the reds. Plan to cover the whole syllabus.
- Write for step marks. Read the step-marking guide and redo every long answer you lost marks on.
- Full papers in the last two weeks: our sample papers and CBSE's own, each marked the same day.
The last-30-days plan works for the supplementary exam too: count back from its date.

Official facts on this page were last checked against CBSE's own documents on 5 October 2026. CBSE Math Revision is independent and not affiliated with CBSE or NCERT. Worked examples are written by CBSE Math Revision and checked twice (by computer algebra and by hand); the mark splits are our illustration, not CBSE's scheme for any paper.
