Maths olympiad and talent exam calendar 2026-27
The main maths competitions and talent exams open to students in India, with each organiser’s official website. Most are entered through your school; ask your maths teacher early in the school year.
We print a date or rule only after checking it on the official page, with the date we checked. Where we have not, you will see a link to the official page instead. Rules and dates change every year.

IOQM (first stage of the Mathematical Olympiad)
HBCSE with MTA(I)
The qualifying paper for the later olympiad stages (RMO, INMO and the IMO team). See the pathway page for how the stages fit together.

SOF IMO (International Mathematics Olympiad of the Science Olympiad Foundation)
Science Olympiad Foundation
A maths olympiad run by the Science Olympiad Foundation; ask your school whether it takes part. Not to be confused with the International Mathematical Olympiad (the IMO) at the top of the HBCSE route.

NMTC (National Mathematics Talent Contest)

A problem-solving contest run by AMTI. Check its stages, classes and dates on the official site.

NTSE (National Talent Search Examination)
NCERT
The National Talent Search Examination run by NCERT for Class 10 students.
- Status: NCERT’s NTSE page lists the 2021-22 examination as postponed: its notice of 15 December 2021 says a fresh schedule will be announced in due course. No later NTSE examination is listed on that page. (NCERT, last checked 5 October 2026)

KVPY and INSPIRE-SHE
Department of Science and Technology (DST)
KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is the science fellowship many students still search for. It has been subsumed into DST’s INSPIRE-SHE scholarship; check current INSPIRE-SHE rules on the official INSPIRE site.
